Century 21 M M Kicks off the 2011 Coats for Kids Campaign

The temperature outside is still in the 90’s, yet here at Century 21 M&M we are already thinking about winter and the Coats for Kids Drive that starts the end of October and ends early in December. For the past three years Century 21 M&M has been a major sponsor of this non-profit drive that benefits children in Northern California by providing warm coats for them during the coldest part of the year.

Currently, and till the end of September, Century 21 M&M is selling 500 Raffle tickets. Each raffle ticket is valued at $50.00 with a chance to win prizes all valued over $100.00! Prizes include iPads, Vacation Getaways, Kindles, Gas Cards and More. There will be 21 Prizes in all! This a great opportunity to win some great prizes while benefiting a very good cause and the purchase of these raffle tickets is tax deductible!

NOTE: You may contact Doug Wheeland at dwheeland@c21mm.com or Jesse Gibbs at jessegibbs@c21mm.com for more information.

Some of us have already started collecting both the new and used coats that will be distributed to families in need in our local communities. And, some of us are planning on eating our way towards supporting the Coats for Kids drive.

On Thursday September 22, 2011, between 4pm – 10pm, Century 21 M&M will partner with Chevys Fresh Mex at 1700 Standiford Avenue, Modesto, CA for a Fundraising Event.

Come dine with us, bring your friends and family and Chevys will donate 25% of the proceeds to the 2011 Coats for Kids drive.

Coats for Kids is one of the many ways that M&M Cares Foundation gives back to the communities that support our Realtors in their businesses.

Due to the warm weather, we are experiencing a slow start of the Coats for Kids campaign. However, John Melo, Century 21 M&M CEO says, “Today it is cold outside we are hearing the rumblings of what could be the best ‘Century 21 M&M Cares’ season ever.”

Jerilyn Von Flue, Century 21 M&M Madera Sales Manager says, “There are about 100 coats in our office, with another 100 coats coming in from classroom participation at a local elementary school. And the canned food drive is humming right along with an expected target of 500 cans.”

Further, Jerilyn states, “Our agents are also participating in the Madera Christmas Basket, sponsored by the Optimists International club. And, through-out the year the Century 21

M&M Madera agents have donated their time to many community giving programs, including:

  • Serving meals at the Holy Family Table
  • Hosting a booth selling ice cream and snow cones at the Relay for Life event

The Century 21 M&M Clovis office is not only collecting Coats for Kids, Liz Owens is heading the canned food drive, and Sergio Montes is promoting the Toys for Tots program.

Leslie Noll, Sales Manager in the Clovis office says, “We are really excited to be participating in Salvation Army bell ringing program. Last year there were so many heart-warming stories coming from people donating. One person came up to us with tears in their eyes saying that they had personally benefited from this program and they were happy to give back.”

Jesse Gibbs, Century 21 M&M Director of Business Development and Public Relations, says that although the Coats for Kids campaign is getting a slow start in Los Banos, they are looking forward to the Christmas parade on December 3rd, and expecting a large number coats not only at the parade, but also through-out that week.

In the Century 21 M&M Turlock-Geer Rd. office there are 48 coats in the box, however, Teresa Moitoso says, “The Turlock offices are participating in the Turlock Light Parade on December 3rd with a float – Miracle on Main Street – and we are expecting a large number of coats donated at the parade and shortly thereafter.”

On December 1st, the Turlock offices are also participating in a silent action and are expecting donations of both Coats for Kids and canned foods the day of that event.

Larry Matos, Century 21 M&M President and Broker says, “With Thanksgiving coming up, we are going to see the Coats for Kids coming in fast and furious during the last few days of this drive. We are  to hoping to exceed our goal of 6000 coats.”

During the Coats for Kids 2009 Campaign we had many heart warming stories of ‘kids helping kids’ by donating coats:

Kathleen Borbon, (11/13/2009) of the Century 21 M & M Real Estate Stockton office, said that at Galt High School, the students in her daughter’s English and Drama classes were collecting coats.

The Clovis office collected 470 Coats for Kids as of today (12/04/2009), most of them donated by children in the Clovis area. Until December 11, 2009, each child that donated a coat  received a “Free Movie Night”.

As of Wednesday (12/16/2009), Marya Pimentel in the Modesto office noted a coat count of 614 with at least 160 coats coming from Ricardo Jimenez’ daughter Mikaela’s sixth grade class hoping to win the drawing so that her class could take a field trip.

Dana Howell in the Los Banos office took the Coats for Kids Campaign to the streets (literally), marching in the Christmas parade pulling carts full of coats through downtown Los Banos.

On December 18th, 2009 Dana says, “What really pulled the heart strings was watching four children take off their personal coats and drop them into the carts—then run off without waiting for recognition or reward.”

And now the 2010 Coats for Kids Campaign is here, and we have 28 more days to collect 10,000 new or gently used coats. With that in mind, Century 21 M&M is kicking off another contest. This years contest focuses on classrooms:

2010 Century 21 M&M Coats for Kids $500.00 Grand Prize to the classroom that donates the largest number of coats

2010 Century 21 M&M Coats for Kids $100.00 2nd Prize goes to the classroom that donates the second largest number of coats.

Century 21 M&M looks forward to partnering with classrooms throughout Northern California. Teachers, if you are interested in participating in this Classroom contest, contact the Sales Manager for at any Century 21 M&M office, and we will be happy to arrange pick-up of your Coats for Kids.
