On Tuesday, November 23, 2010 the Cupertino office hosted the San Jose and Sunnyvale offices of Century 21 M&M for a Thanksgiving tradition and had a BIG party to kick-off the holiday season. Thanks to the generosity of many people – agents and affiliates alike they were able to spread holiday cheer and goodwill by collecting warm clothing and canned food goods for those less fortunate in the local communities
- To the Second Harvest Food Bank – the event raised $1042.00 which translates into 2084 pounds of food distributed to low-income households in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
- To the One Warm Coat Campaign – over 300 coats and warm apparel were collected from the (approximately) eighty Century 21 M&M real estate agents and affiliates who attended this event.
- To the Bill Wilson Center -five boxes of prepared food were delivered by Elise Erwin for the runaways and homeless youth of Santa Clara that benefit from the counseling, housing, education, and advocacy.
Kim Connor (with the help of a crew of agents and affiliates) organized the meal, a raffle and the games. A traditional America Thanksgiving meal was served in addition to the plethora of multi-cultural dishes brought by so many. A nod to the wonderfully mix of cultures associated with Century 21 M&M in the Bay Area.
A raffle theme ran through-out the festivities. Tickets were issued to attendees bringing in coats and canned foods, tickets were given to game participates and tickets were sold for a chance to win some pretty impressive prizes – including: An Ipad, ski lift tickets, many $50.00 gift cards to various area restaurants, a heated blanket, an emergency road kit, 12 bottles of wine and many other items.
Larry Matos, Century 21 M&M’s President and Broker says, “This party exceeded all of our expectations. Not only did we collect over 300 coats, we had a great time. The games were hilarious”.
Here is a sampling of the games, to name a few.
- Bobble head, participants donned a sweat band with a pedometer attached and the idea was to see who could take the most number of steps in one minute.
- Oreo cookies were placed on the foreheads of the participants and the idea was to use your facial muscles to move the Oreo from the forehead, down to the mouth of the participant in one minute.
- Ping Pong balls were thrown at slices of bread covered with peanut butter. The participant with the most number of balls that stuck to the peanut butter in one minute, won! No one actually won this prize so it was added to the grand price of the Apple iPad.
The ever talented Mark Dimalanta was the events MC and music coordinator. He along with Sheryl Shigemasa really helped the event along during the games and the raffle drawings. It could not have been done without them.
The food and the prizes were donated by the following; Home Guard, Fidelity Home Warranty, JCP, Chicago Title, American Home Shield, Linda Hays of Century 21 Mortgage, Sheryl Shigemasa, Charles Hansen, Alan Aoyama, Kim Connor, Toni Viscomi, and Century 21 M&M and Associates.
It is truly amazing what a group of people can accomplish together. Century 21 M & M – providing leadership and community spirit in the Bay Area and beyond.
