Century 21 M&M Real Estate Collecting Coats for Kids

coats-logo-250Home ownership is often mentioned as the “American Dream.” However, for some children and families, the American Dream is as basic as a warm coat for winter.

Century 21 M&M Real Estate is joining News 10’s Coats for Kids to bring warmth to those in need. The campaign runs from Nov.1 through Dec. 18.

“We felt we could have a strong impact and bring more exposure with our 20 offices,” said Jesse Gibbs, a Century 21 M&M business development officer.

Gibbs, who is heading up the Century M&M effort, noted the real estate firm has more than 750 Realtors and staff in 20 locations throughout San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Solano, Yolo and Sacramento counties.

“We’re going to have boxes at each of our offices where people can drop off coats,” he said. “Our goal is 2,500 coats just from our company.”

As a special incentive, for every coat dropped off at an Century 21 M&M Real Estate office, the donor will receive one raffle ticket for a chance at First prize of $1,000, with second place worth $250 and third $100. For more information, log on to http://www.c21mm.com

Gibbs said company-wide, the enthusiasm for the project is growing and many offices are challenging other Century 21 M&M offices.

“We’re going to have fun with it,” he said. “Marya Pimentel, manager of the Century 21 M&M Real Estate Modesto office, is really working with her staff to get involved.”

John Melo, Century M&M Real Estate chief executive officer, and Larry Matos, company president, encourage communities to join them in supporting News 10’s Coats for Kids.

“Larry and I are excited to be part of such a great program. Growing up with 13 siblings, I do know the need for all of us to do our part and share with those less fortunate,” said Melo. “And in today’s economy, we realize the need is greater than ever before. We ask for your help in keeping kids warm through the winter with your donation.”

The Salvation Army will distribute the donated coats on Dec. 30 at Cal Expo in Sacramento and at The Salvation Army locations in Antioch, Fairfield, Modesto, Roseville, Stockton, Lodi and Yuba City from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

News 10’s Coats for Kids, which was established with Swansons Cleaners in 1990, collected more than 39,000 new and used coats in 2008. Since its inception, more than 440,000 new and used coats have been presented to people in need.
